About

Hi! I’m z (they/them) aka a writer, editor, fermenter, and Scorpio moon who’s interested in animals and ecologies, apocalypses, what comes after capitalism, Adventure Time, funk, cumbia, and music you can dance to. Fall and spring are my seasons, I dislike bitter things, I have three screws in one shoulder, and more often than not my first karaoke choice of the night will be Blondie.

Things I’ve written appear in Catapult, Foglifter, Autostraddle, and other places, and I once won a six-word-story contest judged by Amy Hempel. My gratitude and appreciation go to the Tin House and Writing by Writers workshops, as well as the Can Serrat and Mother’s Milk artist residencies, for their support in furthering my work and practice. Once upon a time, I was the fiction editor at Atticus Review and a proofreader for StoryQuarterly; nowadays, I’m an editorial assistant at Split Lip mag and teach fiction classes at Gotham Writers Workshop and elsewhere. I’m currently based in Lenapehoking (Brooklyn, NY) with my cats and loved ones.

Check out my creative work or whether I might be a good fit as an editor or proofreader. All photos by me unless otherwise specified. 🍉

A blonde masc-of-center person with square, gold-rimmed glasses and tattoos on their arms, rests their head on one hand, eyes closed, with a peaceful smile. They’re wearing a black t-shirt and in front of a mural of white cranes and dragonflies.
